England Steam Pumping Sites Last week I visited London, and went to the Crossness Pumping Station, then to the Kew Bridge Pumping Station. Seeing these giant beam engines running under steam is an experience not to be missed.
The Crossness engines are about 90 feet tall, each with 52 ton flywheels and 47 ton main beams. The magnificent Ironwork at the station is high machine art at its finest.
Kew Bridge has the largest beam pumping engine in existence, and run the 90 inch bore engine under steam regularly.
Look on Google.com, Images, or Google.com, Video to have a peek at the machinery.
